Autumn sun over the Radotín Brook canyon: from Ořech via Choteč to Chýnice
Sometimes all it takes for a perfect afternoon is good company, sturdy shoes and heading to where autumn shows its finest colours. When we set out from Ořech for our afternoon walk, the thermometer read just five degrees, but as soon as the low autumn sun settled on the landscape, everything felt warm and alive.
Our route led towards Choteč and soon brought us to the old mill path, which has its own unique charm in every season. This time, though, it was simply magical. The whole wood along the brook was wrapped in shades of gold, rust and deep orange. Leaves rustled softly underfoot and the sunbeams found their way through the bare treetops, giving the whole route an almost fairy-tale feel.
As we passed the historic mill U Veselých, we stopped for a while. Time seems to move more slowly here, and the quiet of days gone by breathes from every corner. Pausing in this picturesque landscape had its own charm: the cold air nipped at our cheeks, but moving and the warm sunbeams kept us reliably warm.
Step by step, at an easy pace and with our eyes open to the beauty around us, we finally made it through Choteč to Chýnice. When we reached for the pedometer at the finish, it showed a splendid 7.5 kilometres. Just right for clearing our heads, stretching our bodies and enjoying an autumn day in the very best light.
